Will Injuries Affect India’s Champions Trophy Campaign?

India is getting ready for their last Champions Trophy for a group match against New Zealand in Dubai on Sunday. Vice-captain KL Rahul told fans that important players Rohit Sharma and Mohammed Shami are fit and ready to play. People were worried about Shami’s leg injury and Rohit’s hamstring problem in the last match against Pakistan, but Rahul said there was nothing serious to worry about.

“From whatever I know, everything seems fine. There are no real concerns about anyone missing the game. We will know more after today’s training,” said Rahul in a press conference on Friday.

This statement comes as a relief for Indian fans, as both Rohit and Shami are very important players in India’s campaign.

Rahul, who was chosen instead of Rishabh Pant for wicketkeeping, said that not including Pant in the team adds pressure. “There is always a wish to make him play because he is a very good player,” Rahul said. “But when I get my chance, I think about my own game and how I can help the team.”

Pant, known for his explosive batting, has been a fan favorite, but India’s team management has shown trust in Rahul’s consistency behind the stumps and in the middle order.

Can Dubai’s Slow Pitch Challenge India’s Batters?

Rahul acknowledged that the pitch in Dubai has been tricky, making stroke play difficult. “It’s a slow wicket. New batters find it tough to rotate the strike. The pace is different from what we played on in India,” he explained.

India, however, had anticipated these conditions and trained accordingly. “We came here a week early and prepared on similar wickets. The key is for the set batter to stay longer and add those extra 30-40 runs,” Rahul added.

Rahul also appreciated fast bowler Mohammed Shami for his accurate bowling and for making it hard for batters.”People say he is very talented and throws the ball straight, but not many talk about how perfectly he targets.” said Rahul.

He shared a practice incident, saying, “Just the other day in the nets, he hit my helmet badge with a direct hit!”

Shami getting back in form is a big help for India, especially in the important knockout matches of the tournament.
